Mission

The mission of the CCFM is to promote the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Bermuda by providing affordable Community and Family Mediation Services as well as ongoing training and professional development for practitioners in the field of ADR.

Background

Through our contact with families in crisis at The Coalition for the Protection of Children we came face to face with the traumatic impact that divorce and separation can have on children.

In addition, the work that we have been doing teaching mediation in Bermuda’s Schools has given us an awareness of the power of mediation to change conflict from a fearful experience to one that can be Transformative and can actually improve relations between the disputants.

The Center was established in 1997 to broaden the availability of mediation to include the wider community.
